1/6th Plate CONFEDERATE ZOUAVE SOLDIER TINTYPE Image in a Mother-of-Pearl Decorated Case!!! Nice clear image of a seated soldier wearing a gray button-down shell jacket with dark piping down the front on the button-hole side. His cheeks as well as his buttons have been lightly tinted. The shoulder-boarded (officer\'s?) jacket is open to reveal a dark button-down vest or shirt underneath, he also sports a dark vertical collar and cuffs.* The plate measures approximately 2-1/2\" in width by 3-1/8\" in height. It is in good condition having a couple of minor vertical creases, one running through the center as well as a partial horizontal bend. There is a light oval wear pattern from a previous metal frame. The CASE is in the style of a book binding, adorned with a partial Mother-of-Pearl inlay floral decor on the front. The hinges are worn and cracked, having remnants of glue residue from an old repair; the front hinge is repaired with a strip of black cloth tape. Wear to the upper and lower spine (binding) edges, the three other sides have gilt decoration, with a functioning clasp.PROVENANCE: Acquired from seller \"porterj-2008\", prior sale #320584215890.
