Year: 1934 Description:One of the earliest and most difficultto find Buck Rogers toys is thisBuck Rogers 25th Century Triple Board Game. And with 55 piecesincluding the boards it\'s also difficult to find complete! Somehowhere\'s an example that has survived intact.Itstilleven has its original parts box with cover. Theblue board, red board, cards, and parts box are near mint. The green grades excellent+ to near mint. All three look like they were never played with. The superbfull color box with illustrations by Dick Calkins grades VG+ toexcellent.The three 16\" square game boards, red (Atlantis), green(Gigantica) and blue (Cosmic Rocket Wars) are literally covered withfull color illustrations drawn by Dick Calkins (the original comicartist). Instructions for each are printed just below the playingfields. The colored surfaces on the back aretextured. The illustrated surfaces on all three are pristine without a singlenick, scratch, scuff, or spot of wear. Even the board edges and spinesare perfect without any wear or cracking. Green has two short ripples in the paper from shrinkage due to age (not creased). Each board is slightlywarped open, but they\'re still the best set I\'ve seen. Thegreen has a couple of faint age spots on the back side and the blue hasone as well, but these are really minor. Any other discrepancies youmay see were due to uneven lighting. Then there\'s the 4¼\" x 3¼\" x ½\" parts box covered with red texturedpaper. It\'s in near mint condition and doesn\'t have a single repair!Inside are all 40 playing cards; each without a single crease or tear.Plus the complete set of all 12 wooden bowling pin markers; also inperfect condition. The glossy full color box (approx. 17” x 8” x 1”) cover definitely gets your attention with\"Buck Rogers\" spelled out in large \"3 dimensional\" perspective letters.No lessthan 10 rockets streak across the surface.Each gameboard is separately identified inside a large circle. The apron sidesare alsocovered with glossy illustrations showing planets and shooting stars.And amazingly one of the side panels still has it\'s original Gimbel\'sprice sticker on it for 89¢. The edges of the box bottom were coveredwith red matte paper (not glossy) and it\'s nearly all there. Three ofthefour original 90º corner staples are still in place. Only one hasfallen out along with a tiny notch of paper. And although each corneris worn, the one with the missing staple is the only corner repair Ican see. The other repair is on the front apron where it was split inthe center and then reconnected. There are some short splits in the seams adjacent to eachcorner, but the paper is still in place. The edges, in particular theright one, does have some scattered light chipping as well. It isfaintly soiled as you can see, especially near to the edges and in someof the white colored areas (such as the letter \"U\" in Buck from the impression made by the parts box). Andbecause the boards are warped open slightly the cover won\'t close downcompletely flat. And thebox bottom is intact, but worn on all four corners. It had twoarc-shaped tears in the center, but these have been repaired. Overallit\'s really in incredible condition.
