You are looking at an ORIGINAL1940 DOOLING BROTHERS MERCURY FRONT DRIVETETHER CAR RACER. This OUTSTANDING RACING CAR measures 18\" in length and ispowered by an ATWOOD SPOKEHEADignition engine driving theFRONT WHEELS. There is a disconnect between the front axle and the flywheel; I believe the ring gear has come loose on the axle. The WHEELS andTIRES are original DOOLING; the wheels showing some tarnish; the tires arehard but intact. The car is complete with original seat back, belly pan, fuel tank, functional exhaust pipe, shut off switch (not connected), coil, and condenser.Thealuminumfinishshows patina; the car displays BEAUTIFULLY!!
The Dooling Mercuryfront driveracers are built to accommodate rail guides for rail track competition. This car is notequipped with rail guides; there are three short bolts in thethreaded holes for the guides; one hole is open.Also, I have not opened the gearbox to ascertain the exact disconnect issue; thiscar is out of an estate and is being sold as-found, as-is.
