This sale is for a 1952 vintage transit ALIDADE surveying instrument in the original wooden carrying case, from the estate of a career USGS engineer, marked on theplastic label inside the lid: K&E - KEUFFEL & ESSER CO. - No.5093 A - SERIAL 124993 - GEOL. SPECIAL - FIXED RATIO 1:100 - HIGH TRANSMISSION COATED OPTICS - marked on the outside metal plaque: K&E - KEUFFEL & ESSER - 124993 - MADE IN U.S.A. - marked on the instrument: KEUFFEL& ESSER CO. - 124993 - G 37351 - impressed on the leather belt: USGS - and marked on the brass plumb bob: K&E - 6471 12- This scientific surveying instrument also comes with the original screwdriver, spare bubble attachment, lens cap and lens shade extension. It is fully functional and in excellent, near mintcondition appearing only very lightly used with no damages. The leather belt carrying strap is still supple. strong and not dried out and the wooden case is also very good+ showing light storage wear on the outside and excellent inside.
