Little used late-60\'s, possibly early 70\'s Mosrite Celebrity bass. Short scale (~24.5), narrow neck (~1 5/8\" at the zero fret), good for people with smaller hands. I kept it stored in my music room for a long time in case my kids wanted to learn how to play bass, but they both went the piano route and never looked back.
I bought it in 1993 and only used it a few times for recording, as I prefer a much larger scale. Frets look barely touched, even though they are dainty little things by today\'s standards. The pickups have those nice 1960s \"gronk\" and \"thoonk\" sounds, depending on how you flip the levers and dial the tone knobs. I recently plugged it in to test it and the pots are a little scratchy, but not too bad for how long it\'s been sitting. I\'m pretty sure that\'s all-original guts inside, but I can open it up to check pot codes if anyone needs me to.
Pretty good shape cosmetically; my photos do a good job of assessing the little chips in the paint and binding. The neck is dead straight and flawless, no chips no dings no scratches. The rosewood fingerboard could use a wipe Fender fingerboard conditioner, but it\'s in great original condition. The black part of the \'burst (especially on back) has gone a bit smoky over the years, and there are what appear to be some faint fingerprint marks in gold leaf paint (maybe? see the extreme closeup in the photo of the f-hole) in a few places on the upper bout from the horn to the tail end of the guitar. Perhaps we\'ve got Semie Mosley\'s very own fingerprints there, who knows? :) All in all, this guitar is most decidedly NOT a museum piece, with marks as noted above. Mostly it\'s tiny little chips along the binding which show up pretty well in the photos. The first photo is taken with no flash and shows the colors most like they look in real life.
Guitar comes with decent quality cardboard & vinyl case and will be packed thoroughly and carefully padded in heavy cardboard, most likely a bicycle box cut down to suit. I\'m an experienced shipper who has sent many bulky items, bicycles, lamps and guitars mostly, without incident so far. (Knock on wood) This guitar is for sale locally, and I will cancel the the sale if I feel like it. That won\'t happen if the offerding gets up to at least $500 more than 24 hours before sale ends. (Can you guess what my local offer is? I bet you can.) You don\'t need to go completely crazy here, but don\'t wait \'til the last minute if you think you really want it.
