ATTENTION UK AND NON-US buyers: Please note that if you are following my sales on a regular basis you should log onto the U.S.A. site rather than the .UK site in order to see the complete selection of sale items I have listed at any given time. For some reason the U.K. site filters from view the posting of sales by U.S. sellers containing the names of some of the better and more highly collectable English and German porcelain companies. I have no idea why this is, however, I do ship worldwide so you are welcome to offer on any of the items.

JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS !

Offered in this sale is a rare group of six hand painted French faience octagonal plates with a molded beaded rim that date to the very early 1900s. They measure roughly 10 1/8\" in diameter. They are all marked on the base France BAYEUX 1066 along with a black smudge mark over the name of the original manufacturer of the blank. I started listing pieces from this set the other day and had originally attributed them to Geo Martel, however, I received a message from someone who advised me that these are not Geo Martel but did not know what studio may have decorated them. Today, I noticed on one of the plates that the black mark covering the name is very light and you can see the mark of the company Sarreguemines underneath (see 7th image). Whichever studio painted this set obviously bought the blanks from Sarreguemines and then decorated them with this pattern. If anyone who recognizes the pattern and knows the name of the studio or artist that painted these would care to share the information, I would enjoy hearing from you. There is little doubt that they date to the early 1900s, the question is who made them. The Sarreguemines mark on them dates the blanks from 1875 - 1900. They have a nice country folk art like feel to them. The fact they have FRANCE printed on them indicates they were made later than the 1890s so my guess is still that they date circa 1900 - 1910. They are decorated with medieval figures and phrases in Latin set against a yellow background. The decoration comes from scenes that appear on the famous Bayeux Tapestry which depicts the battle of Hastings in Sussex England on October 14, 1066 hence the 1066 incorporated in the mark on the back. This group is from a set of more than 40+ pieces in this rare pattern in various forms that I will be listing for sale on over the coming days. Each piece is a work of art in itself. If you are interested in more than one item I do offer \"combined\" shipping which saves on postage. The condition of all three of the plates is excellent with only minor wear to the painted green border. Three of the plates have small glaze flakes in one or two spots on the outer rim otherwise are also in nice condition. Be sure to enlarge and zoom each image for a close up view of the detail of the decoration and condition. Please feel free to email with any questions. I always guarantee everything that I sell to be as described. This group is being sold WITHOUT A RESERVE as long as there is an opening offer. High buyer to pay $12.00 shipping/ including insurance - inside the United States. The last four images illustrate other items I have listed for sale separately on including a signed Hawkes Brunswick pattern trumpet vase, a number of circa 1950\'s Japanese woodblock prints, 20+ pieces of Chinese Export Armorial porcelain, along with a large selection of other antique to contemporary English, Continental and American porcelain and glass. You are offerding on only the group of six plates in this sale
