This is the most stunning antique hand painted reddish burgundy Coalport cup and saucer with the most glorious gold jewelled detailing. The condition is so, so wonderful except for a small, shallow 3mm chip on the mostly back edge of the saucer as seen in the pics. I tried to show this from two different views. It cannot be seen from the front. The back of the saucer exhibits very, very fine crazing. Other than the small chip, this cup and saucer is just dazzling. I believe it would be completely worth it to have this small flaw restored. And as far as restoration goes, this would be an easy fix. The gold detailing is perfection and all gold is very rich in color. Truly magnificent!
The saucer is just under 5\" across and the cup stands at 2 1/2\" tall. You will find the Coalport marks date this set circa 1890 - 1920. There are the marks for the gilding artist as well.
