Antique 1800s English Wooden Flute / Irish flute For Sale

This is an interesting and beautiful flute! It is made of cocuswood with 8 German silver keys. It\'s very well-made and probably had a maker\'s mark at one time, but it is too faded to find. However, from it\'s style and tonal characteristics it is almost certainly British, and was probably made around 1830-50. It\'s high pitched, around A=450, but the slide pulls out a long way and it can play comfortably down to A=430.
The flute shows signs of having been well-used - the long F key was broken (now repaired) and the short D was filed down, maybe to accommodate an owner with chubby fingers. The barrel is new, and the flute has been recently re-padded and re-strung, so it is ready to be a reliable playing instrument! It would be well-suited to Irish music, traditional American or Briton tunes, or period performance.
I\'m selling it simply because I don\'t use it much - I have a couple of antique American flutes that I play most of the time - and I\'m hoping it\'ll go to someone who can make good use of it.
