Antique 1899-1902 EA ARMSTRONG Odd Fellows IOOF Fraternal SWORD &Scabbard Named
Up for sale is this Antique Patriarchs Militant (IOOF) Independent order of Odd Fellows Fraternal SWORD & SCABBARD made by E.A. ARMSTRONG of Chicago. The sword and sheath are marked with a fancy intertwined P and M for Patriarchs Militant. This sword is marked - E.A. - ARMSTRONG MFG. CO. 300 WABASH AVE. CHICAGO. The pommel has a globe wearing a crown. The leather hilt is tight and is wrapped in decorative brass rope wire. The guard has a crown with crossed sword and shepherd's staff. This great sword has characters and symbols on both sides and the name WM. G. DETERS is engraved into it. The scabbard has 3 loops. The theme throughout the sword & scabbard appears to be Peace and War. It has a Lamb laying down and a standing male lion and it says Paxaut/Bellum which means Peace and War. It also says Patmil and Justuni in a shield on a sword.

Age: The street address on the sword pins the date of the manufacturing of this sword to the period 1899-1902.

Measurements: The sword measures 35 1/4" long overall with the scabbard on it. The scabbard measures 29" long and the blade measures 28 1/8" long.

Condition: Excellent with some expected wear and minor oxidation but no damage. Please see the many photos for details.
