Antique 4gal OL & AK Ballard ,VT Stoneware Crock W/ BIGGEST Cobalt Bird For Sale

This fine example of a 19thC 4 gallon stoneware crock was made by \" OL & AK Ballard Co Burlington , VT \" and is somarked. The crock stands about 11 1/2 inches to the rim and has a diameter of 11 1/2 inches. The rich blue cobalt bird isabout asdrastic as one could wish for, measuring 11 inches from the end of the tail to the tip of the beak. The cobalt is a 10with no fry and is crisp and wonderfully applied and almost liquid in itsappearance. There is a very tight \"Y\" shaped hairline on the right side which I have pointed out . ( see photos ) Under the crock is a 2 inch chip which is justbarely visible when the crock isstanding and a small chip under the right ear which is also pointed out ( see photos ) . There is no restoration to this fine example of New Englandstoneware . A fine addition toany stoneware or country home collection.
