Elegant hanging parcel scale
Chatillon made scales from 1835 until today. I believe this single-face hanging parcel scale, probably made in the 20\'s.
The face diameter is 10\". The head unit overall is 11\". The 13\" pan is supported by an elegant curved frame. Chatillon scales of similar design appear in scales from 1900, but the face design suggests a later date. The height of the hanging scale, from bottom of pan to top ring (not including chain) is about 28\".
The face has a distributor\'s mark as well as theChatillonmaker\'s mark. Part of a Minnesota certification sticker remains on the center front.The pan is enameled on the bottom as well as the top. The rim on the pan and the scale\'s bezel are both a brass-plated metal, lightly pitted but not rusted. The pan frame and hanging hook are solid brass.
The face has minor staining, as shown in the second picture. The pan enamel has modest deterioration on the top surface, as shown in the final two pictures. The scale looks excellent in general, is is in fact in superb condition considering its age.
The scale weighs just less than 9#. It will ship in an 11# box. 14 x 20 x 10. I will ship to US by your choice of USPS standard post, USPS priority, or UPS ground. For domestic US shipments by standard post, I will charge $31.20, including $4.00 for packaging costs. Other services, or shipment to Canada, will be higher.
