Antique medicine / drenching horse bit marked DR. LE GEAR\'S STOCK REMEDIES ST. LOUIS MO. as seen in the 4th picture.

This bit was designed specifically to make it easier for a person to be able to dispense liquid medicine directly into the back of the mouth of a horse or a mule.

Once the instrument\'s mouth-piece wasplaced intothe animal\'s mouth the liquid medicinecould thenbe poured into the funnel part of the apparatus. It would then run down into the hollow mouth-pieceand drain out into the animal\'s mouth via a small hole that is in the middle of one side of the mouth-piece.Aclose-up of the hole that is in the mouth-piece is shown in the 6th picture. (Ideally the mouth-piece would be placed in the animal\'s mouth with the small hole facing the throat).

The swiveling \"handle\" lookingsection (which is attached to the mouth-piece) is bent on both sides, with the side closestto the funnel being bent the most and I have tried to show this in the last 4 pictures (pictures #9 thru #12).
