Antique PAPER MACHE SKELETON Bust Skull Halloween ODD FELLOWS FOLK ART Ritual NR

What a great find from my own personal collection of antique Halloween items is this antique skeleton bust that was used in the secret meetings of an Ohio Odd Fellows lodge. Bust is made of paper mache and is over 16\" high by 15\" wide by 9\" deep. I have owned for over 26 years and have used in my Halloween decorations along side of the paper mache pumpkins, noise makers, and lanterns. I bought this paper mache bust from Denny L. Tracey Antiques at the Ann Arbor/Saline Antique Show in 1988. He had it listed at $315 and I still have the original price sticker as well as the bill of sale. I love his toothy smile and elegantly shaped head. The coloring has aged to perfection!

This bust was most likely made by W. H. Gunn of Cincinnati, Ohio. Gunn was an emigre from Germany who immigrated in the 1870\'s to Cincinnati. He was known for his dress forms for advertising windows and seasonal work for holidays, theater and fraternal orders like the \"Odd Fellows\". This is one of the earliest American Halloween papier mache dress forms to made in America.
