Very good condition and guaranteed original Boer War eraTransvaal (Boer republic in South Africa) Model 1896 Mauser sawback bayonetthat was manufactured by Simson & Co. Suhl in Germany, as marked on theblade. Only a few thousand of these bayonets were built. 18 ½” blade has beautiful original bright finish with a little scatteredbrown. Sawteeth are sharp and crisp. Guard has brown patina and correctturned-back quillon guard. Brass grips has beautiful untouched patina, lockspring functions fine. Fitted in correct original leather scabbard that hasbrass throat and tip. Leather shows some wear and flaking, stitching andstaples are nice and tight. A very rare Transvaal bayonet that will make anoutstanding addition to your collection.
