Beautiful Old Antique French Labeled Violin For Sale

Here\'s a very old violin. It has a lovely tone that only an old instrument like this one can have. It has not been played extensively for quite some time, so the tone may develop with regular playing. It may also be improved with some additional set up or adjustments, like the soundpost, or with new or different strings. I\'m not sure what kind of strings are currently on the instrument, they seem to be of good quality, the tops are purple. This violin looks like it had been restored at some point with some newer hardware added. There is an old paper label inside that is handwritten in ink. It reads: Meriotte luthier sur le pom pres le Change a Lyon 1756. I have included a photo. I believe that the instrument is French, handmade, but it seems possible that this instrument dates from a later period, perhaps in the style of Meriotte? Nonetheless, if you are looking for an old instrument with lots of character, history and playability, then this certainly fits the bill. It comes in a nice old hard case with an modern looking octagonal wood bow that works but may need new hair. There\'s another older looking bow without hair that looks to read Fernam? The upper bout measures 6.5\", lower bout is 8 1/4\", length of back is 14\", and total length is about 23 1/4\". Please ask any questions if you have them. Thanks!
