Hammond XK-3c Organ (2 manuals, pedals, bench) + matching Leslie 971 Speaker:
$3945.00

This is a full \"B3-style\" rig with pedals, bench, and stand - not just the single manual XK-3c. The various components detach from each other for ease of transport. I am the original owner, and all components were purchased new in 2010. The Leslie has never left my house and looks identical to when it was new. I\'ve taken the organ out for a couple of practice sessions, but never subjected it to the trauma of life on the road. The pedalboard has a scratch on the top surface of the base, roughly behind the low E-natural pedal. It is not a glaring flaw, but it\'s there. You can faintly see it in the photo of the side view of the rig. It\'s under the bench on the side near the camera in that photo. That scratch is what prevents me from describing this rig as \"mint condition.\" I would still describe it as \"very good.\" All musical functions on the organ and Leslie are intact.
When fully assembled, this rig is designed to have the exact same proportions as a B3, i.e. the keys, pedals, and bench are all the same size as on a B3, the expression pedal is in the same position and has a similar touch, etc. A few differences:
* The XK-3c has a toe clip on the expression pedal for Leslie speed switching, in addition to buttons on the left of the upper manual. Most B3s have a half-moon switch for this purpose near the left side of the lower manual. Personally, I like the toe clip, as it allows speed switching without use of either hand. Not everyone prefers this, however.
* The XK-3c only has two banks of drawbars, as opposed to the four of a B3. One drawbar bank controls each manual. The two pedal drawbars are the same on both organs. The XK-3c drawbar presets (the inverted black and white keys on the left of each manual) can be set to factory B3 settings or customized to taste.
* The buttons for vibrato, percussion, etc. are smaller on the XK-3c and have a different feel than those on a B3. However, they are in similar positions. There is no \"normal/soft\" volume tab on the XK-3c. Instead, a volume knob is used.
* The XK-3c has chorale(slow), tremolo(fast), and off controls for the Leslie speed. Most B3s only have chorale and tremolo.
I would prefer not to sell any of these components separately. They are designed to be used together, and the value of the whole rig is compromised if any part is missing. All cables necessary for use of the rig are included: 11-pin Leslie cable, power cords, and MIDI cables to connect the pedalboard and lower manual to the upper manual. I\'m also including a soft, black bench cushion, which is more comfortable than the hard bench surface. The cushion is removable and the bench is in perfect condition under it.
The model 971 Leslie is solid state with a 200-watt amp for the bass speaker and a 70-watt amp for the treble driver. It\'s great for clean tones and can be louder than all get-out if you want it to be. I don\'t think it can be overdriven the same way the classic 40-watt tube Leslies (122, 147, etc.) can, though. I\'ve never tried. I prefer a cleaner tone, and didn\'t want to risk damaging the speaker by driving the hell out of it. The XK-3c can produce an overdriven sound using its 12ax7 and 12au7 tubes. However, I don\'t think it has quite the same snarl as a B3 pre-amp overdriving a 122. This rig is great for gospel, jazz, country, and other clean tone applications. I don\'t think it\'s as good for hard rock, although it definitely has the volume for it. The Leslie has an identical deep red finish to the organ and they look great together.
For recording purposes, the XK-3c has 1/4\" line outputs (left and right) and a variety of simulations of different Leslies and mic configurations. It\'s a pretty good simulation and captures many Leslie subtleties like the differential speed changes between the upper and lower rotors. Or you can just mic the 971.
A lot of the aspects of B3 sound are customizable on the XK-3c. These include key click, foldback (if you want it to fold back like a CV or an M3 instead of a B3, no problem), reverb, vibrato depth, etc. Separate vibrato control for the upper and lower manuals is present, like on a B3. You can even customize individual tonewheel characteristics if you are that meticulous. The XK-3c does not have actual tonewheels, just simulated ones. You probably knew that if you\'re still reading this.
Sorry, I have to do \"local pickup only\" for shipping on this. I have the original boxes for all the organ components (they\'re included if you want them) and they could theoretically be shipped in the boxes - although the pedalboard box is pretty big and heavy. The Leslie is the kicker, though, when it comes to shipping. It doesn\'t have a box, and it\'s too big, heavy, and awkward for me to even dream of trying to ship it. Plus, when it\'s in such good condition, I would hesitate to subject it to the shipping experience.
I am located in Austin, TX. If you win the sale, I can hold onto the equipment for up to a month until a convenient time for pickup. You\'ll need a van, small truck, or SUV for the Leslie. Everything else can fit in a car.
Thanks for your interest and good luck offerding!
