LARGE DOULTON LAMBETH STONEWARE COLUMN STAND BASE EMILY PARTINGTON ANTIQUE NR For Sale

This strange Doulton Lambeth column base or stand measures 280mm (11\'\') high x 170 (6.75\") across the base and 130mm (5.25\") across the top and weighs 1278 grams. It is marked with the Lambeth Doulton impressed mark and dates to the 1880\'s and has the artists initials EP for Emily Partington. It is a very well detailed column with acanthus leaves top and bottom and two rows of holes around the base and is decorated in the glazes typical of Doulton during this period. I am not entirely sure what it was designed for and is perhaps a base from an oil lamp or jardiniere or was simply designed as an architecturalembellishment. It is in good antique condition with no chips cracks or restoration of any kind and is a very interesting decorative piece of stoneware from a good artist.
