NEW ENGLAND Circa 1860 Sewing Machine For Sale

This very cute Civil War Era cast iron sewing machine is in original condition. It has some paint loss and rust on the metal parts, but all the moving parts work smoothly when cranked. The pressure foot raises and lowers, thread tension adjusts, and the thread holder appears complete.

The machine is 9 1/2\" from end to tip of wood handle, 7 1/4\" and has a 5\" wheel. It weighs 6 lbs..The black machine is decorated with roses, rosebuds, green leaves, and gold accents.

I didn\'t know who made this adorable early sewing machine and luckily came upon a website that was a real help ([link removed by ]). Comparison to Figure 113 lead me to believe it\'s a NEW ENGLAND made by Nettleton & Raymond Pat. March 9, 1858. The pressure foot release, pressure foot, foot plate, and wheel compare to the picture.

The machine is similar to theIMPROVED COMMON SENSE circa 1870 model. This is Figure 102 in the article.
