An early New England Redware Jug, probably Gonic, New Hampshire origin, ca.1830. Ovoid body, tooled rounded spout and applied strap handle. Lead-glazed over a mottled Olive Green with Orange Halos throughout. The base is unglazed Condition: Imperfections in the making and utilitarian wear including chips and glaze flakes on the rim, handle, body and base, as shown. There is heavy crazing on the glaze surface noted throughout (see close-ups). No cracks, repaired damage or restoration work. Wonderful overall form, size and variation in glaze color; displays brilliantly. Highly-appropriate for the advanced collector of American Redware. Approximate 1-Gallon capacity; measures 7\"W x 10\"\"H overall with a base diameter of 6-3/8\".
