Original Civil War parole document for PVT George M.P. Holt, 2nd Florida Cavalry

Offered is the original Civil War parole document for Private (\"G.M.P.\") George M.P. Holt, 2nd Florida Cavalry.  Document is headed \"Headquarters U.S. Forces, Tallahassee, Florida\" and dated May 13, 1865.  Document measures approximately 6 1/4 inches across and 6 3/4 inches high.  At one time the paper was folded in half, then in fourths.  During its period of use, it must have become torn, as it was mounted on thin oil-cloth like material and folded in half, apparently for carry in a billfold.  Holt mustered into Company D, 2nd Florida Cavalry on February 28. 1862.  By trade he was a machinist; consequently, he was detailed to the Confederate Arsenal at Columbus, GA on March 23, 1863.  The Civil War database does not indicate when he rejoined the 2nd Florida Cavalry.  Obviously his return pre-dates May 13, 1865 which is the date of this document.  Scarce piece of Florida Confederate history!  See photos.
