Pioneer SX Antenna Mount, SX-950 SX-1010, SX-1050, SX-1250 and many other models:
$45.50

Used mounts are brittle and maybe cracked and ready to break!!

I have replacement springs if your\'s is missing. $6.00 extra.

The original Pioneer antenna mounts, are well known for their easy nature to snap and break. This replacement mount will fit Pioneer QX-949, QX-9900, SX-828, SX-1010, SX-1050, SX-950, TX-1000, TX-800, TX-8100, TX-9100, TX-9500, SX-1250.

This Pioneer antenna Mount is an exact replica of the plastic SX mounts. However; these mounts have been precision machined from a solid Delrin® acetal resin, considered the workhorse of plastics. Delrin® combines moisture resistance and a slippery, wear-resistant surface with an ability to hold tight tolerances. Also known as acetal homopolymer, it\'s often used for gears, bushings, impellers, and other parts that require its strength and rigidity. This material is much more durable than the original injected plastic mount, which becomes brittle over time.

Some of the pictures loaded show the completed assembly and the replaced mount installed on a SX-1050. This sale is for the new mount and the completion plug, one nylon washer and one metal washeronly. You will need to supply the original Pioneer ball/stem and spring to make the assembly complete. I added a picture of the original mount as a reference. No special knowledge is needed to replace the antenna mount. There is no wiring required. This precision machined antenna mount will make your otherwise mint SX receiver like factory new.

The plug on the back holding the ball/stem and spring is a completion plug and not a plastic plug/cap. This makes the assembly a little longer from the back plate/flange forward, but there is plenty of room for this mount to fit. It is only longer than theoriginalby 3/16 of an inch. The exposed portion of the mount is identical to the original in all dimensions.

What’s the advantage of buying this holder? Pioneer part number “W72-092” is sold by the Part Store?

Answer:

They show them as a special order. You will never see them! I ordered one from them and a few weeks later I got an email stating that they had discontinued them. They returned my money. These are better than the original. Pioneer doesn’t show them on their website, they don’t make them anymore. You can’t get new ones anywhere else (used ones on go for $55.00 or more (I guarantee that you will see them cheaper now!), and they are ready to break on a moment’s notice. Age of the plastic and the tremendous pressure the die spring puts on the Ball/stem; it’s only a matter of time. Many of the mounts you see in tack are cracked and in the last phase of their life (look close). I had these made here in the states. You won’t be disappointed! Thanks for the great question!

Question:

I received the mount. Where do I put the plastic and metal washers?

Answer:

You put the ball/stem part in the mount, then the nylon washer followed by the spring. Then install the metal washer and completion plug. Tighten the plug almost all the way while moving the stem. You should get a good firm movement in the stem when moved from side to side. It should be tight enough to hold the AM antenna and web but not too tight where you have trouble moving the antenna. You only need to tighten the plug enough to achieve the correct resistance. Then install the web to the stem of the completed mount assembly. Adjust the mount to the opening and secure with the four black Pioneer screws. Don’t forget to install the little black countersunk retaining screw that holds the plastic web to the metal stem.
I will pack instructions with the future shipments to other buyers. This should make it easier for others to assemble the antenna mount. Thanks for you purchase and response!
