Pisgah Forest Turquoise Two Handled Vase, 1939, Vintage North Carolina Pottery :
$105

This is a fine example of Pisgah Forest pottery. The glaze is a vivid turquoise with a crackle finish, a little bit lighter at the top and graduating darker to the bottom. It appears that the glaze was thinner along the edges of the handles and the rim, where the color looks washed out. The interior of the vase is an off-white with a touch of dark red and turquoise around the inside rim. The base has the Pisgah Forest stamp with the potter’s wheel and 1939 date.

Age: 1939

Size: 6.25” tall x 6” wide, handle to handle. The base is 3.5: diameter.

Condition: Very Fine. The vase has a crackle finish (and some age crazing?). There is one teeny, tiny glaze flake the size of a pinprick on the shoulder, and a few teeny flakes on the bottom that are almost not worth mentioning. Some of the photos were taken with a flash; some without. All white spots are strictly reflections.

About Walter Stephen and Pisgah Forest: (excerpted from the Pisgah Forest web site) Walter B. Stephen (1876-1961) and his mother began their first pottery, in Tennessee about 1904.

About the seller: I am not a commercial business. I am simply an individual who is selling from my own personal collection, some pieces having strong sentimental value. My husband and I recently consolidated from two homes to one (the smaller of the two). I don’t have space for everything and have no children or grandchildren to pass down to. I am listing most items at a lower starting price than original purchase price &/or comparable present value. My loss is your gain. Because of my circumstances, it should be understandable that I cannot accept returns, unless I have unknowingly misrepresented an item. I do my best to accurately describe and represent each item I sell. If you have an issue or problem with one of my transactions, please contact me first for resolution before leaving questionable response. I am an honorable person, and hope that anyone who chooses to do business with me is the same.

Payment accepted through PayPal. Shipping fee includes insurance. Immediate payment is appreciated. Items are shipped same day or next day once payment is received. Items not paid for within 3 days of close of sale are subject to re-listing.
