A gorgeous Dutch Westraven polychrome handpainted tile tableau from the early 1900s in need of some TLC (tender loving care) as it has seen better days. This scene is after a famous engraving by the Dutch artist Jan Luyken (April 16, 1649 - April 5, 1712), The Baker, a scene also used on the 1950 Porceleyne Fles ‘Zeelandia’ baker’s tile.
Each tile measures 5 by 5 inches (12,7 x 12,7cm) so the 12-tile picture measures 20 by 15 inches (50,8 x 38,1cm). Of the 12 tiles 7 are damaged. There is a small part of one tile missing. Please study the photos carefully. I have added a photo of each tile.
This would be an interesting project for someone to repair or to mount on a board and frame. This is the first time I have ever seen this tableau so it is quite rare. Selling with and starting low to sell.

Why not visit us at our shop in Amsterdam? We are located in shop B1 in the Amsterdam Antique Centre (formerly de Looier) on the Elandsgracht, number 111. We have been established there for 10 years now and offer a variety of antiques and collectables, over 500 items always on display. We are there most Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Email to make a definite appointment or just pop by sometime. The antique centre has some 60 shops, 80 more display cabinets selling a large variety of goods, a great café and it’s a good day out. Open every day 11 until 6pm (Sat & Sun until 5pm) except Tuesday when it is closed. We’ll see you there!
