Please check out my100% POSITIVE response and offer with complete confidence. (And please check out the other beautifulpots that I have on .)

You areofferding on a rare wood-fired teapot by widely heralded former North Carolinapotters Ruggles and Rankin. (It was featured in a 1999 exhibition at theBlue Spiral 1 Gallery in Asheville, NC.)

DESCRIPTION: This exceptional example of the artistryof Will Ruggles and Douglass Rankin is a masterfully constructed teapot. It has a rounded cylindrical body that isever so slightly wider at the top than the bottom. A snug fitting lid with a gentle concavityand a raised nub handle rests within the perimeter of its rim. A wide looped handle and a beautifullyproportioned, upward angled, open topped pouring spout complete the pot. (There is also a series of pouring holes inthe interior of the teapot.)

Thepotters left the lid, the handle and the edges of the spout unglazed and all ofthese were rendered a warm toasty brown by the flames of the wood kiln. The sides of the pot are covered with a milkywhite slip. The latter is furtherdecorated with a series of unglazed squares that are roughly framed by athicker application of the white slip. There is a white circle at the center of each of the squares.

Thishighly collectible teapot stands 8 ¼” tall to the handle and measures 8 ¼” wideto the spout. It is in mint condition-no chips, cracks or repairs- and has the potters’ personal mark just above the edgeof the base.

This is a sale.
