Springfield Model 1880 Hunting Knife Indian Wars Entrenching Tool For Sale

Great old Springfield Hunting Knife in original sheath marked G 3 Inf. which I guess means G Company 3rd Infantry. 3rd Infantry was stationed at Fort Missoula, Montana, from 1877 to 1888; this knife very well could have seen use there. Knife blade is 8-1/2 inches, is full, tight, and has some pitting, but is very good as the pictures show. Handle is original, tight, and has one small chip as shown in the picture. Sheath is really nice, leather is still pliable and well finished. Brass clip is marked R.I.A. All in all this is a nice example of a rare & early U.S. Military knife.
