This is a brass lamp that has on its cover U.S.Army Medical Dept.1863 and it appears to be some sort of lighting device/oil lamp. The top comes off with a twist, screw off the cover over the wick, under the lid is 2 legs that can be extended and the lamp sits on the cover.See pictures. This is made from brass and no makers name on it that I cansee. It is 2 3/4\" across the top,1 3/8\" tall. There are a few dents on it,nothing too bad, tarnish and wear to the brass. On the body of the lamp there is a brass clip that could be used for carrying..I have no idea of what that is used for.If I grab the little brass clip I can easily pick the lamp up.I think it was made this way so it could be carried in a pocket or similar without the hassel of a finger hold as is seen in normal lamps that can be carried.(This is pure speculation on my part) The wick section comes out for refilling of contents.
It has not been cleaned or polished and is in the condition as when was bought, many years ago.I have no other information on this item other than what I have stated.I think it is neat.

I do not offer a return policy. The item is pictured correctly, described correctly and not misrepresented. The item is on for 7 days.If I have truly missed something or omitted something on purpose...which will NOT happen, that is a different story. All items are antique and used. There are going to be minor defects and scuffs and bumps.Thats what happens to old things.(Look in the mirror)If something was broke and reglued or whatever and I did not call it..you have a legit case. But please don\'t buy and say it does not match the color or your shoes. That has recently happened and that is wrong. No refund was given...Thanks
