VERY NICE FRENCH TRENCH KNIFE \"COUTEAUX-SERPENTS\" WWI For Sale

Dating from the World War I Era, this is a rare and seldom encountered example of a fantastic French \"Snake\" Trench Knife also known as the \"Le Nettoyeur de Tranchées that was manufactured by \"H. CAUX HESDIN PDC\" as indiscreetly marked on the blade just next to the guard. It is all steel constructed which includes the blade that measures 7 1/8 inches in length by 1 inch at the widest. The blade reflects good honest wear but does remain in good condition with the engravings \"Le Nettoyeur de Tranchées Campagne 1915-16\" that can still be made out on one side and on the other side the name of the original owner \"Perrére Clement\". The fabulously detailed \"snake\" hilt has survived in outstanding condition, continuing to wear his teeth and tongue, is also engraved along its back \"Souvenier de Guerre\" all richly enhanced with a beautiful deep aged patina.
