VINTAGE, UNIVERSITY CHIMES, BEAVER BRAND, DOUBLE SIDED HARMONICA, 48 REEDS ON EACH SIDE, MADE IN GERMANY, CIRCA: 1910: This large double sided harmonica, with 48 reeds on each side, was manufactured by University Chimes (Beaver Brand), Klingenthal, Germany. This maker of double sided \"tin sandwiches\" was in business from 1910 to 1931. SEARS offered this company\'s musical instruments for sale in its catalogs from 1910 through 1931. My two photos, illustrating the obverse and reverse sides of this double sided harmonica, will give you an excellent idea as to its appearance and its overall physical condition. My photos should be good enough for you to be able to see and read all the information stamped into the metal on this harmonica, so I will not bore you to death with redundancy in print! This large harmonica weighs about 10.3 ounces. This musical instrument measures 9 3/8 X 3 X 11/16 inches. One side of this harmonica is in Key C. The other side is in Key G. This harmonica is at least eighty-three years old!!! Its metal surfaces display some evidence of age acquired oxidization and dents in its metal surfaces from use and abuse, but this old harmonica still plays!!! SEMPER FI!!!
