We\'re not exactly sure when the bass was refinished, but based on its condition, style & look, it appears to be quite old, perhaps even done sometime in the \'60s. It does not appear, however, to be a factory refinish, but still professionally done nonetheless. Aside from refin the rest of the bass is 100% original. The bass exudes an ultra cool vintage vibe, is very resonant & plays magnificently. A real American beauty & a definite must have for any player or collector!Cosmetic Condition: For the most part the bass was well cared for, but does show typical wear for its age - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. Professionally set up by us with low action, so it plays & sounds fantastic!Neck: Flat, wide profile maple neck with beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard & clay dot inlays. Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of play in them. Original tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16\" nut width; 34\" scale length. The treble end of the nut has chipped off, but the G string stays in plays & the bass plays fine. Neck is straight, plays great & is dated 4-61.Body: Contoured, solid alder body refinished in Olympic White. The finish underneath the white appears to be black. Original top-loading bridge with four individual saddles & original bridge cover. Original 4-ply tortoise pickguard is in great shape with no cracks & has its original finger rest. Bass weighs 9 lbs 14.6 oz.Pickups: Original split single coils with original cover. 11.32K ohm reading - good, strong output. Master volume & tone controls with original knurled knobs. Original cloth wiring, pots & cap; pots date to \'60. All electronics are in perfect working condition.Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included. The original case should be brown tolex, but the case that comes with the bass is from a few years later - no logo black tolex from about 1964.
