Exceptional and very rare Victorian sterling silver military / regimental bugle, fully hallmarked for London 1865.
This is a superb silver bugle made by the most important maker, Kohler of Covent Garden, London.The bugle is of classic shape and has superb bands of chased decoration with high relief chased flags, drums, flowers and leaves around the bell.
The bugle also has it's original extender piece - which fits in between the mouthpiece and the bugle.
The bugle comes in it's original fitted wood case.
The bugle is 11 inches / 279 mm wide (WITHOUT the extender) and it is 7 inches / 178 mm top to bottom.Made of thick gauge silver, the bugle weighs an impressive 676 grams.
In it's fitted wood box, the total weight is about 3 kilos.
The bell of the bugle is inscribed 'Kohler Manufacturer Henriette St Covent Garden London'
The silver has hallmarks for London 1865 (letter k) with mark for Daniel & John Wellby.
The bugle is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.PS I am told that this bugle plays extremely well!!
