Vintage Charles Lisk Catawba Valley NC Alkaline Pottery Brown Swirl COOKIE JAR For Sale

Up for offer is a nice Charles Lisk Catawba Valley N.C. alkaline glazed pottery two handled covered cookie jar crock with gorgeous brown and white swirl detail inside and out. We got this at an Estate Sale from a avid collector and please see our other sales for a few more Lisk pieces. Please excuse any camera reflection sun glares, white spots, and shadows. The cookie jar is in fantastic condition with No chips, cracks, nicks, crazing, repair or hairlines. It measures approx. 8\" tall with lid on, 7\" without by 6\" long from handle to handle and 5 1/2\" wide across the bottom. The very bottom is hand incised signed; Charles Lisk * Vale, N.C. Folks, this is a very nice Charles Lisk swirlware pottery cookie jar crock and it would go wonderful in a southern folk pottery collection or home.

About Charles Lisk

A descendant of a Robbins, NC potter, Charlie Lisk determined himself to be a potter after only one class in pottery at Appalachian State University, where he graduated in 1975. After working for Pinehurst Pottery in Moore County for several years, fate brought Charlie and his wife, Nancy to Catawba County where none other but Burlon Craig was a close neighbor. Charlie fired his pottery in a gas kiln, but he spent many hours watching and admiring Burlon\'s seemingly easy techniques. He developed an alkaline glaze, similar to Craigs, and he perfected his swirl wares. However, the alkaline glaze didn\'t turn out the same in a gas-fired kiln. In 1985 Charlie built his own groundhog kiln after Burlon\'s design and began making face jugs, along with a wide variety of wares including pitchers, vases, teapots, mugs, and old-fashioned storage vessels. Charlie is famous for beautiful swirl ware in two to six alternating colors, an ample supply of miniatures, and candle holders, as well as snake and face vessels. Like Burlon Craig, Charlie uses the lottery system at about five kiln openings a year. All his sales are prone to be complete sell-outs.

• We ship by USPS Priority and Standard mail and shipping costs includes actual postage with tracking and insurance. Please know that USPS Standard mail can take 3-10 business days for delivery and sometimes a little longer if USPS has a delay, which we have No control over. You may also check the status of your shipment at any time by clicking the tracking number link from your My , Purchase History page or simply contact us. We also ship by FedEx Ground Home Delivery for heavy items or box lots and yes, we love to combine and do give shipping discounts.If you plan or wish to combine, please let us know and/or do not pay until you receive a combined invoice, which will reflect your shipping discount and savings.
