For sale is a late 1970s vintage Sony CRF-330K Communications Receiver For Parts or Repair. Has a few light scratches and cabinet wear that one might expect from a 30 yr old radio. LED KHz knob is missing, replaced with one that works fine. Its missing the battery cover. SW antenna is missing the tip (I included one for looks) but is tall and straight. The FM antenna is missing some sections & its base is messed up. Its off the radio but will be included.
Meter doesn't function & will need to be repaired or replaced. Has the split gear problem with the AM and FM dial controls.
A temporary repair has been done so that both dials work but only tunes a little over 2/3rds of the way. The FM dials plastic stud has been repaired also (That is the part that slips on the shaft) & one of 3 plate crews is stripped but holds fine. The radio powers on, lights work, all modes and filters work good. SW band doesn't work right, Dial functions ok but frequencies are off, reception is intermittent and so is the KHZ part of the digital display. The LEDs work and are bright but will need to repair the SW section of the radio for them to function properly. No troubleshooting was attempted on the SW band but replacing the old electrolytic caps and touching up cold solder joints would probably be a good start.Right now it has excellent audio and receives well on FM, AM and the VLF beacon band (with the dial limitations as noted above). I heard beacons on the VLF band using the internal bar antenna and many more using an external antenna.
The Cassette deck looks nice, FF, Stop & Rev functions work but Play wouldn't and not sure about REC so it will need some TLC. Receiver comes with its original power cord. LCD clock seems to work fine, radio insides look clean. No Front cover included.
This classic receiver is being sold as is for parts and repair. Its big and heavy so secured double boxed shipping is $40.00. USA buyers only. Thanks for looking
