History Note:
It\'s 100% original and can say \"textbook example\". The condition is still good because of good storage during all these years. Some time ago in Germany were found few hundreds of same lighters at one old stock in original cardboard packages (I still have few in my collection). Most were in very good condition, but I have also some in bad condition, because they were in a wet place for many years. Will sell them for cheaper price later.
Instruction and suggestions written by my customers: Below you can find some suggestions/instructions if you still want to try to make it works (but as I said before first of all I sell them as ww2 memorable for your collections and displays!). Most of my lighters should work well, but don’t forget that they are more than 60 years old!
”I wanted to let you know that the lighter DOES work! I think your description read that it might. I am not an expert on lighters, but I think the lighter you sell does not come with a flint. I spent a little over a dollar (US) for a pack of standard Zippo flints (strongly suggest), and a bottle of Zippo lighter fluid. First, unscrew the bottom of the lighter. This exposes the wick and the tube which houses the wick. With a small screw driver (or by hand), loosen the screw, then pull. You\'ll remove the screw and a spring that contains a small cylinder of metal at the end. Place a Zippo flint into the tube, then replace the spring mechanism into the tube. You\'ll need to tighten the screw, but not too tight -- or else the thumb wheel won\'t spin. Next, soak the cotton with lighter fluid and screw the bottom of the lighter back on. A couple flicks of the wheel, and you\'ve got fire! ...“. Some of my customers said that the cap that screws on the end that fluid goes in, may requirea small inexpensive \"O-ring\" to seal fluidsection, but as for me I used it without \"O-ring\" and didn’t meet any problems. I simply never put too much Zippo fluid inside and screw the cap well.
