Inexpensive, Not too soft for a baby grand/Upright piano
I ordered 34 of these for my students, and I am able to see them at work daily. CON: 1.10% of them stop as the cerated and heavily lubricated clicking disk inside fails to rotate with the big wheel attached to the spring, or fails to keep clicking for longer than a minute with the pendulum. 2. About 30% are audibly out of balance, i.e. you hear a syncopated beat, but still ok to work with at faster tempos from 120 up. PRO: 1. Inexpensive and had discounts for bulk purchases 2. Look very presentable, well built for the price. 3. Pleasant sound that isn't inaudible if placed on a baby grand at ear level. Fails at a metronome's main job; beat is not steady.
I bought this metronome because it was compact and nice looking and I assumed it would do what a metronome needs to do: keep a steady beat. Unfortunately, this one doesn't. It sounds more like a heartbeat: short/long, short/long, short/long, and even in its irregularity it's not totally regular. It just doesn't do the basic job of a metronome well.
