🔥 Antique Old Western Americana Cowboy Gun Shootout Oil Painting, Palmer 1940s For Sale

This is a very well done and captivatingAntique Old Western Americana Cowboy Gun Shootout Oil Painting on Artist Board, by Arizona Western artist, C.J. Palmer. I could not find any information on this talented painter, but perhaps you know more about him or his work? Additionally, there is an old framer's stamp on the verso which reads: "Framed by Fred Elquest & Son...Phoenix." This piece depicts the aftermath of a shootout in an Old Western town. One man on the left lies on his belly in the snow, with his pistol lying several feet away from him. Directly across from him is a standing cowboy in a trench coat, holding a revolver in his right hand. In the background, small "ghost town" building signs read: Hop Lee Laundry, Nugget Restaurant, and Far West Saloon can be seen. Several witnesses watch the shootout from the distance, and one horse in the background of the right side of the image appears to have been spooked by the loud noise. Titled at the center lower edge: "Judge Colt Speaks." The term Judge Coltis an old timey nickname for the Colt revolver, which served as judge, jury, and executioner in the Old West. Signed: "C.J. Palmer" and with a steer's head symbol in the lower right corner. This piece likely dates to the 1940's - early 1950's. Approximately 21 1/2 x 27 1/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 18 x 24 inches. Good condition for age, with mild - moderate scuffing and edge wear to the original period frame (please see photos.)
