This is a lovely and well doneVintage Modern Hawaiian Polynesian Woman Portrait Oil Painting on wood board, depicting a young Polynesian woman in a floral-patterned white dress, sitting in a large white rattan chair with large pink blossoms and palm fronds surrounding her. The subject shyly gazes down and away from the viewer. Her demeanor and white dress suggest a perception of innocence and youth to the viewer. Signed and dated: "B. Gibson '74" in the lower left corner. I could not find any information on this artist, but perhaps you know more about them or their work? This piece was acquired from an old, deceased estate in Studio City, California. The former occupants were world travelers who particularly enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii, Fiji, American Samoa, etc. Their home was decorated with numerous old Polynesian antiques and vintage tropical decor. Approximately 22 1/4 x 25 1/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 19 3/4 x 22 1/2 inches. Good condition for age, with some moderate scuffing and wear to the edges, and mild scratches to the original period frame (please see photos.)
