(#18) WWI Photo in France Colonel Surgeon James L. Bevans DSM 3rd Army Corps For Sale

I am currently listing a number of items that once belonged to James M. Bevans, Major General, USAAF. All the items came from the last surviving member of his immediate family. These lots are spectacular and contain both foreign and US medals, personal items like his ID bracelet, a large charcoal portrait, many photographs dating all the way back to WWI, promotion & training certificates, his wings, dog tags, and signed portraits of Eisenhower & Hap Arnold. If you search his name you\'ll find a few online biographies. His most impressive career achievement came in June, 1945 when he became commanding general of the U.S. Army Air Force in the Mediterranean. In the same year he was promoted to Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, U.S. forces in Europe. All the items offered for sale are of course ORIGINAL and NOT reproductions. Lot 18: The colonel in this 7 1/4\" x 9 1/2\" photo appears to be the father of Major General Bevans. The picture is annotated on reverse: \"Col. James L. Bevans US Medical Corps in France - W-War I.\" It looks like the Colonel may have signed the photo at bottom (see last image above). If you search his name, you\'ll find that he was a chief surgeon for the 3rd Corps (the Corps insignia is plainly visible on his sleeve in the portrait) and was awarded the Army Distinguished Service Medal. Another site mentions that he is buried in Arlington, adjacent to James M. Bevans. Regardless of the association, on its own, this is a great WWI portrait photo and absolutely ORIGINAL!
