nice quality antique early 20th century lidded German beer stein.the pewter lid has a wonderful convex-shaped porcelain insert that is painted with a Bavarian looking building or Inn.The glass has the marking of .5 Literthe hinged pewter lid is mounted to a thick mold blown glass mug and is in excellent condition with no signs of chips or cracks.it measures 6 1/2 inches tall. Underside of lid is marked: MAY 1921The glass has a 3/8 inch scratch/scrape as seen in the photos Research indicates that RICHARD LAUTERBACH was the winner of the German Cross Country Championships in 1919 and 1920, held in Berlin Men's long course - sport - running - field - race NOTE: The script at the top of the lid is a puzzle to me.
