This is THE rarest Fender Amp ever produced, PERIOD.
It was only produced until roughly August 1961. No-one knows exactly how many were produced, estimates, based on serial numbers, equate it to less than 200 units. Serial numbering started at 00100, this amp is 00120, or the 20th off of the Fender production line.I know of only one amp with a lower serial number,owned by GE Smith.
This amp is not pristine, but it is in very good condition for its age. You can tell from the pine knots seeping through the tolex that it is all 100% original blonde tolex.
Cabinet - It has a 100% correct 10\" tone ring cabinet, but it is notoriginal to the amp. I paid dearly for this 1961 Tone Ring cabinet. Try to find one, I wish you luck.
Speaker - The speaker is not original, as you can see from the pictures the speaker is a 1964 Oxford 10K5. It is a good speaker and sounds very good with the amp. I am selling the correct speaker for this combination ina separate sale (Oxford 10K5 with brown bell housing.) Although it is not original to the amp, it is correct and will sell separately. The speaker included with the amp is clearly pictured and sounds wonderful.
Grill cloth - The grill cloth was a mangled mess when I purchased it, so I replaced it with vintage correct Oxblood grill cloth. I have extra material I will include with the sale of the amp.
Handle - The handle is not original to the amp, but is a vintage, correct replacement.
Power Tube Protectors - The tube protectors were not with the amp when I purchased, I received dimensions from GE Smith and had new tube protectorsdesigned, manufactured and nickel plated. They are 100% correct in form and function and are clearly shown in the pictures.
Filter Capacitors - I replaced the leaking filter capacitors and covered them in vintage capacitor covers. The original filter capacitors are included with the sale of the amp.
All of the other electronics are original to the amp and the amp functions 100% and sounds wonderful. You will not find the unique tone of this amp with the tone ring cabinet in any other Fender tube amp.
I am a private seller, not a dealer or music store. I have tried to describe the amp as well as I can and have taken lots of high quality pictures so there are no surprises.
Shipping costs will be determined after the sale closes as I will have the amp and cabinet, double boxed and shipped to the winning buyer. I will not cut costs on shipping as I do not want this amp damaged. I have the handling time set to three days, however, this is not my full time job, so I ask that you please be patient with me on shipping time.
I am normally very fast, but for this amp I plan to be very careful. If I have time to get it boxed in advance I will post an updated shipping cost.
