203 VICTORIAN TRADE CARDS IN INDIVIDUAL SLEEVES IN A BINDER -EXCELLENT CONDITION For Sale

We are offering a binder filled with 203 Victorian trade cards.Each card is inserted in a plastic binder sleeve for protection, and the pictures were taken without removing them, so they may not look as clear as they look out of the sleeves. **CONDITION** -Cards are in Excellent Condition. Some cards had been in a scrapbook and have a little paper from the scrapbook page that stuck to the back when they were removed.
**NOTE** - some interesting information on the Wells Richardson & Co. Lactated Food trade card that depicts babies drinking from bottles with long tubes with nipples on the end. In the late 1800s, bottle feeding was introduced as a way of easing the burden of breastfeeding. A long rubber tube was inserted through the top of the bottle's thin neck, and the tube was fitted at the top with a nipple. The long tube and the narrow neck of the bottle were impossible to properly clean and were breeding grounds for bacteria. Tragically, many babies became very ill, and many died. The bottles came to be called "murder bottles", and some states began outlawing them in 1897, although they were still popular and available in many states through the 1920s.
