ANTIQUE 19thC MEISSEN STYLE HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN ORMULU MOUNTED TRINKET BOX

Description:

An exquisite 19th century (c.1870)porcelain and gilt trinket box decorated in the classic Rococo revival Meissen manner.The box is hand paintedto the lid and sideswith extensive floral decoration, and further embellished with gilt scrolls of floral sprigs on white.

The interior of the box isplain white porcelain, and the underside of the box has a Meissenstyle mark with the letters C and E in underglaze blue.

This box has most likely beenmade by one of the Porcelain companies in Continental Europe who copied the 18th century Meissenstyle, and made in the late 19th century.

Height: 5 cm or 2 inches

Width: 10 cm or 4 inches

Depth: 8.5 cm or 3 1/4 inches

The box is in excellent antique condition, withoutdamage or restoration. There is some superficial wear to the gilt paint around the base, but otherwise the decoration remains bright and unscratched, with expected patina to the ormolu mounts.
