This is an early, possibly civil war, English doll pram/buggy/stroller. What makes this special is its rarity in design. This is an early toy perambulator, or wheelchair. The wooden-framed carriage with upright-posed seat has cast metal undercarriage, three unusual wooden framed wheels with metal spoke, carved wooden handle, wooden storage compartment behind the seat, wooden arms, folding leather sunshade, and black leather upholstery with detailed tufting. Condition is good and to expected ware to item that is 160yrs old is present. The leather is good, it is strong and usable. There is a repaired piece to the wood. Please see pics. This is wonderful as a display for your home, dolls, store, photo shoot, museum or doctors office. Charming holiday/Halloween decor. 25\" h. x 23\"l. x 10\"w This is piece is quite usable and functions on a variety of levels. Wheels easily. The mechanics and metal makeup is a work of art in itself. Keep in mind this Victorian children had mommy and me prams 160yrs ago. How special is that? Imagine a new Victorian mother or nanny strolling the promenade with their beautiful daughter pushing their own ornate doll carriage. Life expectancy and medical care were quite different then, making this quite special.
