African American School Children 1910 Segregation Black Civil Rights Alabama : $999.00
DETAILS: Original cabinet card photograph of an African American class along with their teacher. Circa 1900. We believe that the photograph was takenin Alabamaat the turn-of-the-century. Note that none of the children are smiling, a testament to the harshlife that childrensuffered under segregation and the Jim Crow laws that were passed to enforce it. The sad truth is that these children were the lucky few whose parents were able to send them to school. For the vast majority of black children at the time,an education at school wasa luxury that they never experienced in their lifetime. Photograph measures 9" x 7" inches.
GUARANTEE: We offer a lifetime guarantee on all of our photographs to be authentic originals and as stated. They are not later re-issues or reproductions.
