An American Violin by Bob Wallace (1955) for Repair/Restoration, Full Size 4/4:
$51.00

Hi, and thanks for looking!Up for sale is an American Violin labeled:Bob Wallace on 10/16 1955. It is numbered 7.According to The Universal Dictionary of Violin & Bow Makers (William Henley): WALLACE, Robert Nicholas.Born 1904 at Ellis County (Texas). Inherited a flair for wood-work from his grandfather \'who made beautiful cofins.\" Commenced making violins in 1952 and up to 1960 has made 46, half of which have inlaid designs. Extremely clever and delicate work, some violins having up to 2,000 different pieces of inlay. Nearly all of maple wood in several types secured from all over the world. Strad and Guarnerius modelling. All inlays are made before the violins are glued together. Went to Arizona in 1930 and was established for fourteen years at Gilbert. Many well known Western fiddlers play on his instruments. All inlay work is done free hand. There is no template because of the violin\'s curvature. Actually, a railroad worker, all instruments are made in spare time. Gained great recognition and esteem from many countries where his violins have been exhibited. Complete works of art in every detail. Removed to Miama (Arizona), 1960, where he is still making instruments at present time.\"This particular violin would appear to be an early example. Based on the date of 1955, and the number 7 on the inside, it would appear to be an early example before his work was refined. It\'s obviously not inlaid, and shows an early example of the maker\'s workmanship. It would probably be ideal as a restoration project for a fiddler or for a collector who\'d be interested in this particular example. Please see photos. Condition: There\'s a crack in the peg box at the A string peg that is forming on both sides. The violin is missing a sound post. The bridge I received it with, tail piece, and end pin are all included. The e-string peg is missing an ornament but is otherwise in tact. The measurements are not exact to true violin standards (note that the bridge sits higher than the notch in the f-holes, which would be correct for this instrument). No bow or case included. Shipping via UPS or Fed Ex ground. It will be insured and well packaged. Violin sold AS is for repair/restoration. Please ask any and all questions before sale\'s conclusion. I will be happy to provide more photos to anyone interested. Thanks for looking, and happy offerding!
