Very old and ornate wooden picture frame carved with dimensional leaves, acorns and small flowers in an oval shape.
It’s made of wood in a sort of primitive way as shown. The glass and backing wood are held in with a single metal clip and a bent nail (?), it is strung with a mounting wire on back.
There are significant noted and photographed flaws, so please read notes below and review all photos for best representation of condition and item itself.
- there are several cracks in the wood frame that may be the veneer or substantially through the frame- they seem to have been repaired long ago and the frame is structurally sound, so they may only be cosmetic.
- there are crazes and other warped areas in the finish as shown
- there are several dings, chips and finish abrasions throughout.
- I did carefully wipe down a lot of dust from this item as it was covered in dust and dirt from many decades of storage. That said, it remains plenty dusty and patina’d with time- I didn’t want to cause any damage to its unique aged surface or integrity.
- it comes with glass that possibly was added later? It is old glass…but I can’t tell if it’s original to the frame. Glass was cut crudely as shown and has an irregular shape. There is also a flaw in the glass that seems to be from production? It causes a small area of bubbly thickness, shown.
- wood on back of frame has many splinters, chips and abrasions as well as paint stains and other marks.
- I included a very thin and stained “mat” that came with this frame- it’s not very high quality and it’s in poor condition, I’ve included it more to keep a small buffer between glass and wood- you probably won’t want to use it?
It’s heavy and very stately. I’ve carefully packed it for safe transit fully assembled.
