I think she holds needlecraft/sewing notions or lingerie & accoutrements required for keeping those things secure in the time before elastic. Her hair feels like a woolen animal I’ve only touched a handful of times & sounds silly to think let alone convey to another but… a buffalo. The hair feels like the wooly part of a buffalo.
