Antique German Historismus Presentation Drinking Horn Beer Stein w/Bronze Mounts c.1890s
Description: Presented is an antique monumental very unusual drinking vessel created in late 1890s in Germany. It's a drinking horn - the kind that ancient Germans were using for their brew.
It was created on top of the Historismus movement out of a very old tradition. Made of a cow horn with bronze mounts that consist of stand/holder on form of a winged dragon, ornate lip ring with a cast wreath, ornate end cover, and a middle ring with a bird.
The mounts are made of bronze and gilded. The gold shows some wear but is mainly intact, creating a beautiful impression.
Magnificent, monumental and very impressive vessel. These vessels were not created for actual drinking - there were made as presentation and trophy items.
The horn is in excellent flawless condition with no damage or repairs. It is 19" tall with stand, approximately 2L capacity. The horn itself is 18" long (curved).
Reference#: Condition: Excellent Year: 1890s Country: Germany Height: 19 in Materials: Horn, bronze
