A hand ladder work cross hatch design across the top of the sheet and a third of the way up the sides and completed with a raised rembourre silk stitch encircled monogram of IM. This would have been completed for a dowry trousseau - a mixture of the bride and grooms initials - Iolanthe and Marcel perhaps? Saved for "best" perhaps for the birth of a first child with the wife and child cleaned up and displayed for the visiting husband :0) Perfect for the purpose they were made for or alternatively drapes, tablecloth etc
In superb condition no holes or marks, old dry cleaning labels still attached, tiny red monogram of IM. Perfect to add to a collection, give as a wedding gift etc
