Ca 1860\'s CIVIL WAR 9th PLATE EARLY RUBY AMBROTYPE NEW HAMPSHIRE VOLUNTEER

Offered is a early Civil War 9th plate ruby ambrotype of a New Hampshire Volunteer. Sharp image with the soldier holding his kepi with the insignia facing the camera. Housed in a thermoplastic (erroneously called Gutta Percha) Union case designated Berg Geometric 3 - 269. Very nice image.

Light wear overall to the image with typical mat wear and light wipes near the mat edge. Some solarization around the mat. Light wear to the surface of the case with a few nicks. I see a small stress fracture by one of the hinges. Functional closure that holds close and tight. Hinges have very slight play. Great combination of image and case.
