Here is a collector quality Marantz 2250B. I am the 2nd owner, the original being a local minister. It is very evident he took good care of this and it is possible it was never moved...it certainly doesn\'t show any signs if it was. It was a little dusty when I got it so I did a deep clean on it. More details below.
This is an early serial number model 2250B. Serial # 100417 J4. Serial #\'s started at 100000 so it\'s the 417th one produced. Chassis date is marked 1-30-76. J4 signifies it can be switched to different voltages.
This unit works, functions, and sounds great...I cleaned all switches, pots, and input jacks with DeoxIT. They are quiet, very smooth, with no static when turned. Channels are well balanced. FM tunes in stations nicely...and it is difficult to get stations here, I live in a warehouse loft. FM muting works well, as shown in video. Tape function works too...I tested with the Nakamichi CR-1A that I also have listed. AM reception is not there, but I never get AM in here so I don\'t think its as much a mechanical issue, as much as it is a logistical problem.
I deep cleaned the face, all of the knobs, and the both sides of the plastic dial glass with NOVUS 1. I cleaned the inside and chassis very good, taking off the board covers as well to remove any and all dust I could see. Dial is beautiful Marantz Blue!! I put new lamps in....7 brand new LED fuse lamps (including the meter lamps) and I also replaced all function lamps, even if they already worked, with exception of the Dolby light (which DOES work, it was just going to be very difficult to get to so I left it be since it still works) I did NOT replace the dial pointer lamps, but AM & FM pointer WORKS. EVERY LIGHT on this unit WORKS. When I had it apart, I pulled out the old vellum paper from the dial AND meters (the papers in the meter area were a complete pain in the butt....) and put new paper in both.
The overall cosmetic condition is 9.5/10. There is the smallest bump mark on the bottom left corner of the faceplate, you can see it in the picture. Otherwise, absolute collector quality condition that you will not find anywhere.
Basically, I cleaned this inside/out, front/back, top/bottom and it truly is an absolute gem. Top cover and bottom cover are very clean. Inside of top cover still has foam strips intact. Also worth note....this spent all it\'s life in smoke free homes.
Original Marantz branded cord is in perfect condition.
This is 100% stock Marantz 2250B. It sounds great, it\'s powerful, and has the famous Marantz tone. All electronic components look to be original. This is not a \"serviced\" (way overused word by the way) or recapped unit. It is stock. I will not advertise it as anything but that.
This unit will be professionally packaged by my local store....double boxed, and shipped FedEx Ground.
